GETTING INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL

Congratulations on your acceptance to college!  With this acceptance comes great responsibilities. Soon enough you will be asked, “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO  MAJOR IN ?!”  I was asked by my father on day one as  I was unpacking in my dorm.  I reflexively said Biology or Biomedical Engineering…tales of a Nigerian household.

Do not be reflexive when it come to your major! Choosing a major such as Biology or any subject pertaining to science will certainly get your feet wet; but this does not prepare you for medical school!

MYTH #1:  Majoring in a SCIENCE  field in college will prepare you for medical school.

I encourage you to break this mold. Choose a major unrelated  to science- be unique! After all you will be a scientist for the rest of your life – yes, LIFE!  However, if you do intend on majoring in a science subject, you must EXCEL!

Below are  the prerequisite needed to apply for medical school.. you are not OBLIGATED to major in them.
